Los hipsters son una subcultura urbana, es una gran combinación de hippies, beats, punks, post.punk y grunges, es una cultura comúnmente entre clases medias y altas que buscan barrios de clase más baja pero urbana, comparten gustos por la música alternativa, el skateboarding, gustos por la búsqueda intelectual y el arte.
En la moda, los hipsters combinan piezas vintage y nuevas de estilo retro, artículos artesanales, comúnmente usan lentes los necesiten o no (por aquello de lo intelectual), les encanta usar el "capa sobre capa", bolsas estilo Messenger, zapatos siempre cómodos y usan el cabello desarreglado.
